Dallas, Texas rapper, Money Waters is a certified, dirty-south rap icon, whose lyrics are representative of the struggles of growing up in the hood; amidst a backdrop of crime, drugs, and the blues. He takes a cue for legendary blues artist Muddy Waters in that respect. It is straight out of the genius mind of Money himself. He took on the name to pay respect and homage to the man who put his home state of Mississippi on the map. Money says that he is “tired of the mud and out to get the green. Is this new to you? Catch up here” This is a reference to the Delta state, where the famous Mississippi river starts (or ends, depending on how you look at it).

Money’s introduced the world to his world in his first studio album “The Porch”, which debuted in 2003. It received critical reviews from the industry but most importantly, the fans embraced Money. “The Porch” featured his like, So I (The Other Side of Trickin’), Excuse These Blues, and Ya’ll Next. Much like hip-hop legends, Scarface, Slick Rick, and Cee-Lo Green, Money is a story-teller too. You can blame his upbringing for that; in the south oral histories are such as vivid as a picture. He followed up “The Porch” with Swalhaggin in 2006.

Money is currently in the studio, working on his third studio album.

He released his second album in 2006 entitled “Swalhaggin”, which was also critically acclaimed and well-received by fans.

Money Waters has performed alongside may famous rappers including Busta Rhymes, Slim Thug and UKG. Although some may label Waters’s music as hip-hop, many music fans say that his music does not fit one particular genre. They say that Water’s music can be put into at least three different categories.

Money Waters is a relatively new artist and remains unknown to many, but he still has the potential to have a very successful career. Allhiphop.com states that Waters is an underground legend that has great talent. Fans and critics also like the fact that Waters is staying true to himself and his music, which is something that many musicians today are lacking. Waters is all about keeping things real and he stated in a recent interview that, “music is therapy to the soul, so I guess that my I make soul music.

Teenagers may not have much in the way of real musical heroes to look up to. The current pop artists are often insipid copycats or the latest Disney boy band forced upon an unsuspecting world. Money Waters decided to mix several types of music together to come up with his own distinctive sound. Teens who listen to Muddy Waters may not be listening to real music in the eyes of their parents, but the rapper has brought soul music and the blues into rap and hip hop. The decision to be influenced by the blues and soul music is a way to turn away from the bland sounds of the mass-produced pop music heard on every single top forty station in the country. The whole story can be found at http://bjordt.wordpress.com/2011/07/18/ruthie-foster-to-bring-blues-rock-and-roll-to-door-county/

Money Waters, oddly enough, is a Texan. He may not appeal to adults, but his following among teenagers has been enough to provide him with a musical career. He even has chosen to place a pun in his name, although the pun is not obvious to everyone. The nom de plume this rapper users is a play on Muddy Waters and is more than likely a reference to his decision to bring a small bit of soul music back to larger audiences. Money Water’s put out his first album, “The Porch” in 2003.

.”Muddy Waters whose name is a play on words from “muddy waters” comes from Dallas, Texas and plays his own brand of music that combines Hip Hop, Rap and Soul. He draws inspiration from several musical sources including the sounds of the south and rhythm and blues.

Muddy Waters first album, entitled “The Porch,” debuted in 2003 and quickly captured attention and favor with audiences. That first album dealt heavily with the struggles and triumphs of life in the ghetto. Money Waters works with the SoulIsys Music and independent music label. Muddy Waters music does not fit one genre, but spans at least three.

Muddy Waters second album “Swalhaggin…” released in 2006 much to the pleasure of fans and critics. Though a relatively new artist on the scene Muddy Waters has already performed alongside music greats like UKG, Slim Thug, Busta Rhymes and others.

AllHipHop.com call him an “Underground Legend”. And -Deadly-grounds.com say he is “Significantly talented”. Muddy Waters is a genuine and honest musician, he tries to create lyrics his fans can relate too. For him the sound booth is a place to keep things real saying, “Music is therapy to the soul, so I guess we do soul music.”

Money Waters is a rapper from Dallas Texas who came on the music scene in 2003 with his debut CD “The Porch.” Money’s first CD is described as being blues-oriented and inspired. Many of the tracks are hard-hitting and have Money’s signature down south flavor.

Noir Sound Records produced “The Porch” and Kerav Shimon of Noir Sound helped bring “The Porch” into existence. There were several other producers of this CD as well including Riddles of the group Kabaal and Gugu Funkadelic. “The Porch” was an immediate hit.

Money Waters comes from very humble beginnings, but he found his place in the rap world and has shared the stage with some of the biggest names in rap such as Too Short, Young Bleed and Busta Rhymes. In 2004, “Murder Dog Magazine” named Money Waters as being among the best rappers.

“Swalhaggin” is Money’s second CD. It was released by Soullsys Music released in 2006. Money Waters along with Kerav Shimon and George Guerin produced it. The name of the second CD may sound funny, but it is meant to be read backwards. The CD includes 23 tracks that range from southern funk to blues and to soul. Many rappers are featured on the CD including Limp Legg, Mr., Blakes and Young Bleed.

Money Waters influences include: Marvin Gaye, Bobby Womack, EPMD, Bob Marley, Outkast, Boosty Collins, Scarface, Run DMC, George Clinton and many others.

Here’s what the critics have to say about his debut album The Porch and new CD SwalhagginThe Porch is one of the most egregiously slept-on Texas hip-hop albums of our young century. -The Austin Statesman The Porch is full of southern goodness. -UrbanConnectionz.comUnderground Legend -AllHipHop.com Significantly talented The end result is a record that truly defies categorization due to it’s originality and eccentric composure. -Deadly-grounds.com You are witnessing a new era of southern rap Money Waters has mastered the art of lyrical storytelling. -Bitmunk.com The reason this album is so advisable is for the variety of hard raps, lazy beats, political messages, and entertaining dialogues. Money Waters, who has helped to put Dallas on the hip-hop scene with his previous album, will certainly better this city’s reputation with Swalhaggin. -Pegasusnews.com
